How do I install your software?

Can your software be used on a Mac?

Please see our Exercise Pro Live web based exercise software. Also see Total PT Fitness for Personal Training software. They will run on any computer or tablet with a web browser. Our other software does require the Windows operating system. Please see Parallels Desktop Software for a way to run Windows programs on your Mac.

Do you offer trial or demos of your programs?

Yes. Our demos are fully working, but may have limited printing ability or may not allow more than one or two clients to be entered. There is no time limit to our demo versions.

Do you offer online demos?

Customer service is our priority. We can provide online demos and training for Exercise Pro (by appointment). Call or email for details, sales@BioExSystems.com or 800-750-2756, ext 2.

How long does it take to get the software?

If you choose the Download Only option you will receive a link to the software via email in minutes, all other orders are typically shipped within a day or two. Orders ship by US Priority mail in the US and take about three business days. Orders to Canada are shipped by US airmail and can take from 5-8 business days. Overseas orders are shipped Express Mail International and take about 6 days. If you have downloaded a trial version and purchase on our website, you will receive a registration code within minutes, which can be entered into the trial version, activating the trial version into the full operating program.

Are there any maintenance fees or ongoing fees?

We do not require monthly or annual fees for any of our products.

Do you charge for technical support?

We provide free email support for all of our products. Some of our products include free phone support. Some of our products have an optional yearly phone support fee. Call for more information.

How are upgrades handled?

Upgrades are released approximately every two to three years and include new features and new content. Upgrades typically cost about 20-35% of the initial purchase price depending on the product. Upgrades can be purchased as a download or with a CD for a little extra cost.

Do you provide technical updates or patches?

Yes, technical updates and patches are free as a download patch from our website. Extremely old versions may require an upgrade.

Do you offer returns or refunds?

No, we do not, for several reasons. Once an activation or registration code has been issued, there is no way for us to deactivate the program. Also, we have no way to verify if you have the proper computer to run the programs, so not having the correct operating system or computer is not grounds for a refund. We offer full working trial versions of all our software (limited to partial printing or number of clients depending on the product), so a potential customer can examine and use the programs to determine if they will meet their needs prior to purchasing.

What happens if I have a computer crash or buy a new computer? Do I have to buy the programs again?

If you purchased the software with an installation CD, simply contact our support department and they will instruct you how to re-install on the new computer. If you choose the Download Only option we maintain download links for at least one year from purchase. We recommend when you download you save the file to a disk in case you need to reinstall. All our programs offer a means to backup data, which we suggest doing periodically so if you do have a crash, you can restore your data.

 

Exercise Software Questions

 

Do I have to buy modules for Exercise Pro?

No, Exercise Pro is a complete exercise content program. Modules are for Exercise Expert.

Will Exercise Pro work with physical therapy documentation software?

Yes, Exercise Pro links directly with several documentation programs (see website for details) and can export exercise handout history into a format that can be attached to almost any EMR.

Does Exercise Pro contain fitness assessment and nutrition?

No, but it does link with our fitness assessment software.

What is the difference between Exercise Pro and Exercise Expert?

Exercise Pro is a complete content exercise software. Exercise Expert is sold in modules, allowing you to buy only the content you want.

How do I buy modules for Exercise Expert and do you have to ship another CD?

Modules are purchased on our website. You will receive a module code within minutes, which can be entered into your Exercise Expert software, activating it immediately. We do not ship a new CD for modules.

Can exercise handouts have my company logo?

Yes, your logo can be inserted to appear on all exercise handouts.

Can I email exercise programs?

Yes.

If I buy a single computer install of Exercise Pro or Exercise Pro Active Care, can I install it on more than one computer?

No, the single computer install is just as it sounds, for one computer. To install on more than one computer or at more than one location, you are required to buy separate copies or to buy the network version. The software is not limited to number of users, only number of computers.

How is the Exercise Pro and Exercise Pro Active Care network licensed?

The Exercise Pro network begins with a 5 concurrent license network for one location. Concurrent licenses mean that 5 copies can be running at the same time. The program can be accessed from all computers on the network at one location. The software is not limited to number of users, only number of running copies. Sharing the network with other locations will require additional licensing fees. Another location is any location more than one mile distant from the primary location.

Can Exercise Expert be networked?

No. If you anticipate needing to network your exercise software, consider Exercise Pro.

Are there any other fees associated with a network?

We recommend the SQL edition which is extra in cost for any network running more than 10 concurrent licenses to prevent loss in performance speed. Also, sharing the network with other locations will require additional licensing fees. Another location is any location more than one mile distance from the primary location.

Will you draw new exercises for me?

We are happy to add exercises. There is a $35 fee for each exercise you wish to add. Please contact us for more information.

 

Maker Software Questions

 

How does Fitness Maker, Fitness Maker Professional, and Nutrition Maker Plus link with your Exercise Programs?

When you have purchased and installed Exercise Pro, Active Care, or Exercise Expert your Maker software will be configured to link. This allows you to use the rich content of your Exercise Program instead of the exercises in your Maker product. On the Exercise Program tab select the Use Exercise Expert/Pro... button. This will launch your Exercise Software. Create and print/email your clients exercise program in the Exercise Software. You do this instead of using the Exercise tabs in your Maker product. No exercises will be imported to Maker. If you wish to enter Exercise Results you can still do that on the Exercise Results tab in Maker.

How are the Maker products licensed?

Management Maker, Fitness Maker, Nutrition Maker, Fitness Maker Professional, Nutrition Maker Focus and Nutrition Maker Plus come licensed for one computer and one log-in user. Additional log-in user licenses can be purchased if there is need for more than one user. If extra log-in user licenses are purchased, it applies to all of the Maker products you own. All the Maker products allow unlimited clients to be entered.

If I want to have multiple people on the schedule in Management Maker, do I need to buy additional user licenses?

Yes, you must buy one user log-in license for each person on the schedule. Management Maker does allow for two non schedule users to access the software (for office staff, schedulers, billing etc.).

If I buy an extra log-in user license, does that mean the program can be installed on a second computer?

No, extra log-in users are for the program on one computer. If you wish to use the software on multiple computers, it is necessary to buy another copy for another computer or buy the network edition (the computers must be networked to use the network edition).

How does the networking work on the Maker product line?

If you buy the network option, it allows you to access the Maker products from multiple computers on the same network. One network fee applies to all the Maker products you own.

Can I email reports and meal plans from a Maker product?

Yes, most all reports and/or meal plans can be sent by email.

How do I buy meal plan templates and do you have to ship another CD?

Meal plan templates are purchased on our website. You will receive a meal plan code within minutes, which can be entered into your nutrition software, activating it immediately (older versions may need to apply the meal plan patch to their program first, located on our support page). We do not ship a new CD for meal plans.

Can reports have my company logo?

Yes, most reports can have a logo. And it is possible to create a cover page that has personalized company information and logos.

Can I create my own meal plans?

Yes.

What type of meal plan comes with Nutrition Maker, Fitness Maker Professional, Nutrition Maker Focus and Nutrition Maker Plus?

These programs come with 3 day plans in a variety of calorie ranges. We also offer many meal plan packages that can be purchased and added to the programs.

Can I buy programs individually or do I have to buy them as a package?

No, it is not required to buy all the programs at one time. Each program can be bought alone or other programs can be added later.

Can the software run on my website?

Do my clients log-in to the software and enter information?

No, our programs are for the health professional to use to provide information to their clients.

The Nutrition Maker demo program has three day meal plan. If I buy the program will there be more days?

No, the program comes with a three day meal plan. What you see in the demo is what you get. We offer a variety of meal plan templates that can be bought to add to the program. See the meal plan link on our website. It is also possible for the end user to create meal plans or add days to the current plans.

 

Suite Software Questions

 

What is the difference between the three Suites?

The Standard Suite includes billing and scheduling, fitness assessment testing, calorie assessment and meal plans, and Exercise Expert for exercise handouts. The Elite Suite is the same as the Standard Suite except it adds the ability to perform dietary analysis. The Professional Suite has all of the features of the Elite Suite but instead of Exercise Expert, you are upgraded to Exercise Pro, our top of the line exercise software.

How do the programs link?

The suites share client and user information so it is not necessary to re-enter into each program. Also, when an exercise program is created in either Exercise Pro or Exercise Expert, the history of that program is automatically sent to the fitness assessment component.

Solutions to Common Problems

 

My registration code is not working

First verify that you have installed the correct program. Next try typing the registration code in instead of cutting and pasting. This often fixes the problem.

I lost my registration code and/or cd

We are always happy to provide replacement codes and cds. There is a $35 fee. Please contact BioEx sales via phone with a credit card to receive the code.

I get a 1 copy is already running on the network... on startup

Click here to download a patch for the latest version. If that does not work please contact support for a solution to your problem.

I receive an Error 5 on startup

Your database has become corrupt. Please restore the expro4.mdb file from backup. If you do not have a backup the program makes periodic backups and they can be found in the backup directory.

Whenever I start Exercise Pro I get prompted for the database location

Your bioex.ini configuration file is not correct. It needs to be changed to reflect the correct path. Please see this document for more information, in particular see the last note.

Whenever I search for exercises in Exercise Pro I do not get pictures

Everytime a new user starts Exercise Pro they are prompted to register

How do I verify that my software is pointed at the correct directories and/or SQL Server

Start Exercise Pro and go to File/Settings or User/Settings. Push Alt-Z, the information will be displayed.

I have installed Exercise Pro on Citrix, VMWare, or Terminal server and each new user is prompted to register

This problem is caused by the latest versions of Windows Server 2008 and 2012. These versions will not read ini files by default. The latest version of Exercise Pro V6 is compliant. Please uninstall and reinstall using the latest .
